How to test PVC leather for sofa is scratch-resistant or not?
1. Nail Scratching Test: Use your fingernail (or a daily item of moderate hardness like a key) to scratch the surface of the PVC leather back and forth a few times with moderate force. If the surface of the PVC leather shows no scratches or only very slight marks that disappear when wiped with a cloth, it indicates that the PVC leather has good scratch resistance. Conversely, if obvious, irreversible white scratches appear on the surface of the PVC leather, or even the surface coating (paint film) is scratched off, exposing the underlying fabric base, it indicates that the PVC leather used for the sofa has poor scratch resistance.
2. Coin Scratching Test: Use the edge of a coin (such as a one-yuan coin) to scratch an inconspicuous area. Similar to the nail test, observe the depth of the scratch on the PVC leather and whether it can be restored. High-quality PVC leather should be able to resist the scratching of a coin.
3. Observe Surface Texture: Carefully examine the surface of the PVC leather. PVC leather with embossed textures (such as alligator skin, crosshatch, or fine stripes) has a non-flat surface, making minor scratches less noticeable visually, thus having better "visual scratch resistance". Smooth or glossy PVC leather, on the other hand, shows any minor scratches very clearly, so it has higher requirements for scratch resistance.
